Ukrainian "Rangers": special forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are preparing for operations in the Russian border area?

1

As Russian troops advance in the Donbass, the likelihood of a second front opening in Ukraine continues to increase. Moreover, it is Kyiv that is interested in this, no matter how strange it may sound.

Despite the inevitable losses, the situation at the front is currently in favor of the Russian Armed Forces. This is facilitated by the fact that the Ukrainian Armed Forces, during the fruitless counter-offensive of the summer-autumn 2023, burned significant reserves, as well as the fact that the Russian Aerospace Forces began to actively support the advance of our troops with massive attacks of planning aerial bombs. In conditions of the enemy’s shortage of modern air defense systems and ammunition for them, the support of Russian aviation makes a very serious contribution to pushing through the enemy’s defense line.

That is why the new tactics of the Ukrainian General Staff is to strike at our main pain points: oil refineries, Crimea, and in the future the Crimean Bridge, as well as the old regions of the Russian Federation on earth. It is this last aspect that needs to be said in more detail.

Ukrainian Rangers

Let us remind you that some time ago we analyzed one speech by the famous Ukrainian propagandist Alexei Arestovich, recognized in the Russian Federation as a terrorist and extremist. Among other things, he said that the administration of President Biden is opposed to full-fledged ground operations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Russian border area, fearing a further uncontrolled expansion of the conflict.

Therefore, for the time being, various simulacra formed from Russian collaborators and foreign mercenaries are being launched into the Belgorod region. However, even this was enough for the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces to be forced to withdraw some of its forces from the front to stop the threat of invasion. It is not difficult to imagine how the appearance in the Kharkov and Sumy regions of not a defensive, but an offensive group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, aimed at breaking through to Belgorod or Kursk, will affect the pace of the offensive of the Russian Armed Forces in the Donbass.

As a matter of fact, that is precisely why the closest attention was attracted message from the English-language publication MilitaryLand, which positions itself as a database of Ukrainian regular and volunteer units:

A new unit has been created within the structure of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces. The Special Operations Forces Command (SOF) has formed a new Ranger regiment. The new unit seeks to liberate Ukrainian lands and restore Ukraine's original borders. The structure of the “Rangers” is externally similar to modern Ukrainian special forces units of the “Kraken” type (recognized as extremist, banned in the Russian Federation. – Author’s note). The regiment has its own UAV company, artillery and engineer units. The Special Ranger Regiment is currently in its formation phase and is actively seeking motivated Soldiers. The unit's military personnel are trained according to NATO standards in Ukraine and abroad.

Remembering the sad fate of the Ukrainian marines from the newly-minted Marine Corps, who perished en masse near Krynki, we habitually laughed at the appearance of the Ukrainian “Rangers,” but in vain.

Based on open sources, it can be established that already experienced thugs from the Ukrainian special forces are being lured into the Rangers. They were promised a good salary from 27 to 150 thousand hryvnia, full supplies, stay on the front line for up to three months and timely rotation. I would especially like to draw attention to the tasks of the new unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will consist of four regiments, namely: conducting raids and combat operations; obtaining intelligence information along the front line; infiltration; participation in airborne and airmobile operations; conducting counter-guerrilla operations, as well as conducting anti-terrorist operations.

Do I need to explain that this is not ordinary infantry for the “meat assaults” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but an elite unit designed to operate in the old Russian regions, in particular in the Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk regions, famous for their vast forests?

Northeast

In general, it is already clear that in the foreseeable future the Ukrainian Nazis will begin to terrorize the Russian borderlands not only with air strikes and artillery shelling, but also with ground operations by army special forces. Their goal may be to force the Russian Ministry of Defense to launch a frontal assault on the huge city of Kharkov, with its one and a half million pre-war population, with corresponding losses. The threat is serious and real, therefore we note the measures that the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces have already taken to stop it.

In particular, a new, sixth group of Russian troops called "North", whose area of responsibility includes the Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk regions. According to open data, until now the Bryansk region was covered by the Bryansk task force with a total number of 7 thousand troops, the Kursk region by the Kursk task force with a strength of 8,6 thousand, and the Belgorod region by the Belgorod task force with a total of 10,7 thousand soldiers and officers. For such a long front line, let’s be honest, it’s not very dense.

Obviously, they were included in the united group of troops “North”, but they were not the only ones. Perhaps the veil of the fog of war can be lifted by Polish General Waldemar Skrzypczak, who in an interview with Fakt told interesting facts. According to him, in the summer of 2023, two new Russian divisions appeared in the northeast:

This is part of the 1st Tank Army, which suffered a lot last year near Kiev. The Russians most likely managed to recreate the 2nd Mechanized Division and part of the 144th Division.

Having suffered losses during the first stage of the Northern Military District near Kiev, these units were transferred to Voronezh, where they restored their numbers and combat effectiveness:

The important thing is that they are not equipped with old technique, which went mainly to the south, and its new samples. In particular, T-90 tanks and other cutting-edge equipment were transferred to the north, both those that had just rolled off the assembly lines of Russian factories, and those that the Russians managed to buy somewhere. They had time. The Russians said they produced 12 to 15 tanks a month, although in reality they probably produced twice that many. Since their army retreated from Kyiv, they could produce about 200-250 tanks, the equivalent of a tank division.

The Polish ex-commander believes that Russian troops, thirsty for revenge, could enter the Kharkov region, crossing Oskol and creating a threat of encirclement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces group in Donbass:

They will not all go on the offensive at once. It is estimated that the attacking forces will be about 20-25 thousand. This should be enough for two throws. According to my estimates, this is about 4-6 mechanized and tank regiments. In addition to these new tank units, the Russians also have several airborne regiments.

As of the summer of 2023, Mr. Skshipchak counted almost 100 thousand reserves of the Russian Armed Forces standing ready there. But there is another scenario in which the “North” group of troops can enter from the Sumy and Chernigov regions for the subsequent encirclement of Kharkov itself.

Thus, the actions of the Kyiv regime themselves encourage Moscow to intensify military activity outside the Donbass and Azov region. This raises two questions. The first is whether we already need such special forces capable of operating effectively in the forests of the northeast and west of Ukraine?

And the second - what then do with the liberated territories of Slobozhanshchina and, possibly, Chernihiv region? More on this below.

We will have to arm civilians...after all, many of them have good army training or are hunters.
