How did the patriotic public of Russia change during the NWO?

The special operation to help the people of Donbass, the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine has been going on for the seventeenth month in a row, taking on the character of a heavy positional war to deplete resources, material, technical and human. The NWO became a terrible test for the Ukrainian and Russian peoples at the same time and could not but change a lot in the public mood on both sides.

The day before, a respected colleague, who was not lucky enough to be in the territory controlled by the Kyiv regime, published Article, where he brought interesting information about the true attitude of a significant part of the Ukrainian people to the continuation of the war. In turn, we will try to assess how much Russian society has changed, its patriotic part. What will be presented below is not a scientific study that claims to be the ultimate truth, but only the result of the author's personal reflection based on his own, purely subjective observations, so please treat with understanding and even humor.



So, what are the main types that can be identified in the patriotically inclined part of Russian society?

Frightened Patriots

These are our fellow citizens who love their homeland very much, but did not understand and were frightened when the SVO suddenly began for them, and preferred to wait out the dangerous time either in their historical homeland or right in a foreign land. Two waves of emigration of frightened patriots can be distinguished: in February-March 2022 and in September 2022.

In the first wave, frightened patriots, mostly our celebrities, representatives of big business and other public idols, role models, rushed to Israel and other countries where they had second passports or residence permits. The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov spoke in their defense:



Why did this statesman, who widely spread the seed of the Peskov family across the leading countries of Western Europe, stand up for the frightened patriots, and then publicly kissed hands the ex-prima donna of the national stage and the wife of the foreign agent Galkin Pugacheva, it is not difficult to understand. As it was said in one movie: “We are not like that, life is like that”, right?

By the way, Mr. Urgant was never fired from Channel One, and he promised to return to the blue screen. Literally today, he gave us all a fiery video greeting from Iceland, where he is still roaming about in a foreign land. The solemn return, apparently, should take place together with Alla Borisovna and her comedian husband already in the "new Russia", whatever that means.

The second wave of emigration of frightened patriots took place immediately after the announcement of partial mobilization in the country, and many patriots fit for military service preferred to move to other countries with their families. Apparently, it is necessary to understand and forgive.

Hooray patriots

Where without them, in fact? Those who have a long memory remember well how many jingoistic moods there were before the start of the NWO and at its very first stage, before the beginning of the era of "shell hunger" at the front and the "Great Retreats". It was considered quite frivolously that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as soon as they were ordered to cross the border and take Kyiv, would be able to defeat the Armed Forces of Ukraine in three days, no more.

Here I would like to recall that the author of the lines personally even before the start of the special operation warnedthat an easy walk will not work and the war will be serious and uncompromising. Then I even had to argue in absentia about this with a colleague, who later bitterly had to admit his mistake. Alas, too many people were mistaken and underestimated the enemy, overestimating their own strengths, including those who, according to their position, were supposed to be in the know and respond with their heads.

By the seventeenth month of the special operation, jingoistic patriots are almost invisible in the media space. Only against the background of the stalled Ukrainian counter-offensive did they again begin to raise their heads a little, but, I think, prematurely.

Disillusioned Patriots

As it sometimes happens, from cheers the general public, faced with harsh and unpleasant realities, began to move into a new state of gradually growing disappointment. There is nothing to be surprised here: the RF Armed Forces are sitting on the defensive, no noticeable preparations are being made for their own large-scale counteroffensive, the military-political leadership has the will to an uncompromising war until Victory, complete and unconditional, not visible.

The result is logical: more and more people are asking the question - why is all this even started and why are our guys dying?

In search of an answer to these questions, some pass into a state of despondency and begin to wish for a speedy cessation of hostilities that are being conducted without decisive action. In the comments, they write that we need to “crawl back”, make peace at least on some acceptable terms and rebuild Mother Russia. And there are visually more of them. Others from among the disappointed move into a different category of patriots.

Angry Patriots

This category includes those people who have not experienced and do not experience cheers, and also do not allow themselves to lose heart, being led by fairy tales about peace or a truce on acceptable terms. Those who do not have rose-colored glasses before their eyes understand that no one will simply allow us to “crawl away” and the war will be continued by the opposite side to the last Ukrainian and the penultimate Russian.

The conclusion is simple: we must take it and start fighting seriously, with decisive goals, forgetting about negotiations and "agreements" due to their senselessness and unilateral "gestures of good will" as harmful to the country and discrediting those who make such decisions. The truth is that Russia can still win this war and impose its own will on the losing side, if the military-political leadership wishes. The longer the conflict drags on, the greater the price the Russian and Ukrainian peoples will eventually have to pay to end all this on our terms.

All that the angry patriots “from below” can really do now is to help their army in matters of supply, as well as to put pressure on those in power so that they quickly stop fooling around.

Also patriots

What can happen when armed people run out of patience, we all saw on June 23-24, 2023. Whatever the real goals of Mr. Prigozhin, the Wagner PMC under his control demonstrated that at a crisis moment in history, well-prepared, organized and motivated people can start doing what they themselves see fit, simply by the right of the strong, “destroying everyone who stands in the way."

In those two fateful days, our country really stood on the verge of an instant collapse into regions that did not obey the rebellious center, unauthorized removal from their places and return home of registered volunteers with weapons in their hands, and the collapse of the front with a military defeat of the RF Armed Forces by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The strength and determination to use it, which was demonstrated by Prigozhin's "musicians", impressed the Kremlin so much that they even forgot about the principle of inevitability of punishment for a crime, which is the basis of the rule of law, and President Putin called the Wagner fighters also patriots:


It is interesting that the state now has no questions for the frightened patriots, nor for the Wagner PMC and Yevgeny Prigozhin personally, but representatives of law enforcement agencies began to visit the angry patriots of the ex-Minister of Defense of the DPR Strelkov (Girkin). That is how we live.
