Recently we Reportedhow the United States actively sought to exit Afghanistan. And they say that Russia “completely excludes” the possibility of sending its troops into this Asian country. This was announced on January 9, 2019 by the Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Ryabkov.

I think this is completely out of the question. We see no reason to consider such a step. We have been cooperating with the Government of Afghanistan in the field of security for a long time, this cooperation is strengthening, gaining form, entering areas that were not previously addressed in the framework of such cooperation.

Ryabkov specified to reporters.

Ryabkov added that the Russian military presence in Afghanistan is “not an option.” And he emphasized that he completely excludes a similar scenario.

It should be noted that in Afghanistan there is a serious confrontation between government forces and militants of the radical Taliban movement. The war has been going on there for many years. And now the Taliban controls large areas of the country, mainly in rural areas. However, they are not shy about carrying out attacks on large cities. So the influence of this movement in the country is growing.

It must be recalled that in Russia decided to overestimate the results of the previous war in Afghanistan.
