Every day, the rocket and space industry in Russia presents surprises. Did not have time To discuss problems with the International Space Station (ISS) and report on completion GLONASS project, as it became known about another important matter - the development of a new generation of spacesuits for working in outer space.

The process will begin in 2019, when funding for the next ISS operation program will open. And "Scientific and Production Enterprise" Star "them. G.I. Severina ”(NPP“ Star ”) very much expects that the development of a new spacesuit will be provided there. About this agency RIA News said the chief designer of this company Sergey Pozdnyakov.

It should be noted that NPP Zvezda is located in the Moscow Region and is part of the Technodinamika holding, which, in turn, is part of the Russian Technologies state corporation (Rostec). Since 1952, this company specializes in the development of spacesuits, ejection chairs, various products for emergency rescue of people (vests, fire extinguishers, etc.), climbing and medical equipment.

So, Pozdnyakov said that while potential customers have no formulated technical and commercial proposals. Although general questions, i.e. “In general,” this was discussed with RSC Energia and the state-owned corporation Roscosmos.

That is, development as such has not yet begun, the basic requirements are formulated

- he specified.

Pozdnyakov assures that the new generation of spacesuits will become even more ergonomic and they will take into account the requests of astronauts. So, over the past few years, the Orlan-ISS spacesuits (this is a modified version of the Soviet Orlan spacesuit, which were produced by this enterprise) were sent to the ISS and some experience was gained.

An automatic temperature control system was installed at Orlan-MKS, as well as rubber hermetic shells of the spacesuit were replaced with polyurethane ones. But the United States, in April 2018, announced that they would use their spacesuits instead of Russian ones to launch their astronauts into space from the board of the future near-moon station Lunar Orbital Platform - Gateway. So something needs to be done with the spacesuits.
