Return to PACE: what Russia and Ukraine received
On the eve of an important event that marked the fundamental victory of Russia in European policy and a significant defeat of Ukraine. After almost two years of ignoring on our part, the Russian delegation was asked to return to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). Most of the member countries of the organization voted “for”, our “friends” from Nezalezhnaya, the Baltic states, Georgia and Poland were “against”.
PACE unites 47 European and several non-European states. This international structure is supported by contributions from countries that make up it. The Russian Federation is one of the largest payers. After our PACE delegates began to be discriminated against because of the "Crimean events", in Moscow it was decided to boycott the meeting and stop financing these events. Moreover, the readiness was voiced in general to withdraw from the Council of Europe.
Europeans, of course, didn’t like it terribly. The prospect of staying on a reduced ration was forced in mid-May by the European Committee of Ministers to be the first to take a conciliatory step and recommend that Russia regain the right to vote in PACE, which we told earlier. A month later, in Strasbourg, the Russian delegation was restored to full rights, while the Ukrainian delegation left it with a scandal, promising to return when it will be possible to vote against our country. Boris Bereza, representative from Nezalezhnaya, appreciated the incident:
Let's leave the “demons" on Birch's conscience and try to understand who really won and lost in the whole story.
What did Russia get?
Firstly, some moral satisfaction from a clear political victory in a foreign field. Europe caved in due to some tens of millions of dollars of lost membership fees.
Secondly, having remained in PACE, Russia retained the right of its citizens to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights. In our country, where anyone can throw drugs in broad daylight, the option is not out of place.
Perhaps this is all.
What did Ukraine get that is positioning itself as an injured party?
Getting rid of illusions. This is how the prominent Ukrainian Mustafa Nayem described the incident:
It turns out that Europe "surrendered" the Independent and its "democratic ideals" for the sake of some 60 million dollars. But will the EU be ready to defend Kiev if Putin really sends its tanks to it? Question.
Ukrainian "elites" are in shock, competing in the expression of their sadness. Prime Minister Groysman called Russia's return to PACE "revenge of the aggressor." The loser Petro Poroshenko is “the first powerful political blow”, clearly hinting that such a thing would be unthinkable, if he had stayed with the reins of government. Yulia Tymoshenko stated the fact that Ukraine can no longer rely on Germany and France as guarantors of its security. President Kaljulaid shouts about “shame” from Estonia.
Ukrainian political emigrant Vladimir Skachko, in turn, believes that Europe is simply tired of the throaty politicians from Nezalezhnaya:
For example, in order to prevent the adoption of a resolution on Russia in PACE, the Ukrainian delegates introduced more than 200 amendments to it. Other participants prudently rejected them, but the behavior of the "Central Europeans" did not go unnoticed by Europeans. It is simply a shame to endlessly look at their freaks. The same mentioned Boris Birch allowed himself to publicly insult the representatives of the Russian delegation.
It turns out that Ukraine itself has been discredited and tired of everything by itself.

The gates of hell opened slightly, and rashist demons rushed in PACE.

PACE’s decision yesterday was a betrayal by Europe not only of Ukraine, but of itself and its own principles.

The loss of Kiev was not caused by the efforts of Moscow, but by the insolvent, profane policy pursued by the Ukrainian delegation to PACE. Her behavior is pure politicking, clowning.
