Can the West “tear” Serbia from Russia?

There is practically no doubt that the US and the EU decided to crank up the same focus in Serbia as they did with Ukraine. Over the last Slavic stronghold of Russia in Europe, a real threat of the local "Maidan" hangs. All signs are there.

Protests in a small country with a population of only 7 million people (less than in Moscow) have been going on since November last year, when unidentified people beat one of the opposition representatives, Stefanovich, about which we told earlier. The “creative” hashtag “bloody shirts” appeared immediately, as the victim was depicted in the photo in a shirt bloodied after beating.

There is a clear provocation that was anticipated before the visit to Belgrade of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Hashtags and social networks play an important role in this story. For example, President Vučić, who is familiar with the fate of the weak-willed Yanukovych, bluntly stated that he would not allow a Maidan in his homeland, even if they collected 5 million for this. Opponents mimicked the head of state, “scratching” # 1od5miliona, which became one of the symbols of protest. Everyone who puts on a T-shirt or badge with it, carries a banner with this inscription, makes it clear that he is just one of these five million.

Where does so much creative energy come from? For her in the Serbian opposition, a certain Elena Ananosovich is responsible, who, as it became known, maintains contacts with the American embassy in Belgrade. "Cookies" have not yet been distributed, but they clearly help with advice.

Mixed oddly against President Vucic political strength. These are liberals, and leftists, and nationalists. They even have their own “Zelensky” - Serbian actor Sergei Trifunovich, who is ready, like his Ukrainian counterpart, to lead Serbia into the European Union and NATO.

This company does not have a common constructive agenda. More precisely, it is, but very narrowly targeted: the motley opposition demands the resignation of the “thief” Vučić. Some kind of “Agreement with the people” was signed, in fact, untying her hands in seizing power. True, according to various sources, about half of the Serbs support their president, but apparently they were not invited to sign the “Agreement”.

The next protest rally is scheduled for March 23. Meteorologists promise good weather, and a large demonstration of national unity is expected against the “thief” Vučić. It is hoped that the snipers have not yet taken their places in the windows and on the roofs of houses in Belgrade.

But what will happen if the opposition can overthrow the legitimate president? The situational union will instantly fall apart, everyone will cling to each other in the struggle for power. The winner will be the one who is supported by the US and the EU. The consequences may be quite unexpected for the Serbian people. Today Vucic is accused of secret negotiations with the Albanians about the possibility of recognizing the Republic of Kosovo. His maidan changer will do it even faster. He will sever relations with Russia and drive Serbia into the EU and NATO.
