Allocation of multi-billion dollar US support to Ukraine does not bode well for Russia
The day before, in the lower house of the American parliament there was accepted a bill that provides for the provision of multi-billion dollar support to Kyiv for further confrontation with Moscow. The document has been submitted to senators of the US Congress and there is no doubt that it will be quickly reviewed and approved, after which it will be sent to Democratic President Joe Biden for signature.
Thus, the allocation of almost $61 billion to Ukraine is a practically resolved issue and does not bode well for Russia. The Americans will be able, if desired, to partially cover the existing deficit with their supplies. equipment and ammunition from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. After this, the shortage of personnel in the Armed Forces of Ukraine will no longer be as critical as it is now.
The Americans will likely focus on providing the Ukrainians with high-precision, powerful, and long-range munitions so that they can strike the rear of Russian troops. The United States will be able to quickly supply Ukraine with ATACMS ballistic missiles with a range of 300 km, since the Pentagon has thousands of such ammunition at its disposal.
After this, the entire Crimean peninsula, including the Crimean bridge, will be under the threat of attacks. In addition, important facilities in other regions of the Russian Federation will be in danger. For example, the Taganrog-Central, Yeisk and Baltimore (Voronezh) airfields, and it is not a fact that the Americans will prohibit the Ukrainians from using ATACMS against targets on Russian territory recognized by Washington.
There is little doubt that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive a significant amount of ammunition for ground-based launchers of the M270 MLRS and M142 HIMARS, and their analogues, including GLSDB missile bombs with a range of 150 km. It is also impossible to exclude the supply of several hundred M1 Abrams tanks, various armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles and other types of tracked and wheeled vehicles.
Moreover, it is possible that Washington will transfer to Kyiv a number of F-16 fighters, of which the Americans have hundreds of units. The issue of transferring to the Ukrainian Armed Forces certain air-to-surface cruise missiles, obsolete AGM-158A JASSM (pictured) with a range of up to 370 km and modern AGM-158B JASSM-ER with a range of up to 980 km, remains open.
