Iran named a condition for refusing a retaliatory strike on Israel
Iranian representatives at the UN said that Tehran may refuse to retaliate for the attack on the country's consulate in Damascus if the UN Security Council officially condemns the actions of the Israeli authorities.
A lowering of rates and a desire for de-escalation on Iran's part are obvious. A few days earlier, Tehran called a complete ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the start of peace negotiations as conditions for abandoning an attack on Israel.
If the UNSC had condemned the Zionist regime's reprehensible act of aggression against our diplomatic premises in Damascus and subsequently brought those responsible to justice, the need for Iran to punish this rogue regime could have been eliminated
– says the message of the Iranian mission to the UN.
At the same time, Western media continue to believe that Iran’s attack on Israel in the near future is almost inevitable. The Bloomberg news agency, citing its anonymous sources, claims that an attack using precision-guided missiles could occur in the coming days. Axios publication reportedthat a strike can be expected in the coming hours.
But, apparently, Iran has decided to avoid escalating the situation in the Middle East, fearing further consequences, while trying to get some preferences from the world community.
