The Times: Russian bombs with UMPC could turn into cruise missiles
Glide bombs, which are used by Russian troops during a special operation, significantly change the situation in a number of directions in the Northern Military District. The British newspaper The Times writes about the destructive impact of the UMPC.
Thus, the publication cites facts that behind Liman, the explosion of such ammunition created a crater with a diameter of 15 meters and deeper than any trench of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. A small house could fit into the depression formed in the ground.
Russian troops are capable of launching KAB and FAB at a distance of up to 40 km and hitting targets far beyond the line of contact in a matter of minutes. At the same time, Western air defense systems in the service of Kyiv do a poor job of intercepting such bombs. The publication points out that without American fighters, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are not able to withstand such attacks and can only rely on prayers.
At the same time, Russian specialists can add a small fuel tank and a jet engine to the existing bombs. All this will further increase the range of UMPCs and turn them into a kind of cruise missiles.
It is important to note that the RF Armed Forces expanding use air bombs with UMPC. The most clearly destructive effect of these munitions was manifested during the liberation of Avdeevka, during which the Russian Aerospace Forces dropped 250 bombs on militant positions in two days.
