Russia blocked the adoption of a resolution on sanctions against North Korea in the UN Security Council

21

Today, at a meeting of the UN Security Council to ensure sanctions against the DPRK, Russia openly sided with Pyongyang, vetoing the submitted draft resolution.

Of the 15 member countries of the UN Security Council, 13 approved the resolution, China abstained, and Russia used its veto power and blocked the adoption of the document. This step expectedly caused a wave of criticism from the West. Moscow was accused of granting diplomatic immunity to Pyongyang after transferring weapons and ammunition to the Russian army.

The meeting was initiated by the United States and South Korea in connection with the alleged supply of oil and petroleum products from the Russian Federation to the DPRK. As the Financial Times reported, citing satellite images, at least five North Korean tankers left the port of Vostochny in the Far East with oil products. However, according to UN Security Council restrictions introduced in 2017, Pyongyang is limited to importing 4 million barrels of crude oil and 500 barrels of petroleum products per year.

Following today's meeting, Western media reported a deadlock in the UN Security Council, which casts doubt on the future of international sanctions.

Let us remind you that today North Korea I visited Head of the SVR Sergei Naryshkin. The head of the Foreign Ministry, Yun Jong Ho, arrived in Moscow from the DPRK side. It is assumed that such visits are carried out as part of the preparation for the summit meeting between Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang.

      Elena123 (Elena), you simply do not have enough information about why the DPRK is being spread rot. Yes, primarily for the development and testing of nuclear weapons. But there is one more point where the DPRK does not recognize the right to exist of South Korea as a sovereign state. And it would be okay if they just didn’t admit it, which there are a lot of other examples in the world - Iran-Israel, Serbia-Kosovo, South Ossetia-Georgia, etc.
      But the DPRK regularly attacks South Korea, shelling their ships and territory. Moreover, there were blatant acts of terrorism when Kim's agents blew up a South Korean passenger plane over the Andaman Sea. Or they sent a special forces group of 30 fighters to Seoul, which d.b. capture the presidential palace, causing a massacre in the square in front of it. You didn't know about this?

        Perhaps then explain why sanctions were imposed against Irina, and not Israel, against Serbia, and not Kosovo, against the DPRK, and not South Korea, against Russia, and not Ukraine?

          The UN Security Council did not impose sanctions against Russia. The G7 countries and the European Union entered. The main sponsor of sanctions against the Russian Federation is the United States.

          Let me explain... because Russia itself at one time voted for sanctions against Iran and the DPRK, without imposing the right of veto in the UN Security Council, which it could have done. Sanctions on Serbia were not imposed by the UN, but exclusively by the West. And the Russian Federation did not lift sanctions against Iran until they expired last year. And it hasn’t officially been lifted from the DPRK yet, but thank God, it had the courage to slightly violate them under the pretext of humanitarian aid.

    The West wants to destroy us and has the audacity to accuse us of not dancing to its tune.

    Perhaps China also vetoed it. The fact is that when voting in the Security Council, even if one of the great powers - permanent members of the Security Council abstains, but does not stipulate in advance that its so-called "abstention" does not mean a "veto", then it also means a "veto".

    Enough with the spread of rot on North Korea already. For nuclear weapons? So now everyone has it! And it’s right that they have. How the United States bounced back from Pyongyang then! Even the aircraft carrier was customized. Nuclear weapons are a means of ensuring sovereignty in the current world. Iranians are also wise.

    The future of the UN, which has not solved anything in recent years, is in doubt.
    PS Objectives of the UN:
    1. maintaining peace and security on the planet;
    2. development of friendly relations between countries;
    3. cooperation in solving international problems and ensuring respect for human rights and coordinating the actions of different countries.

    This DPRK was given to them.
    If the UN has nothing better to do, let it deal with the genocide of the Palestinians and the presence of atomic weapons in Israel.
    And he will finally condemn America for the nuclear bombing of Japan.

    Finally! Boldly, even China washed itself in abstinence. In general, for a country of 25 million, 4 million barrels a year is just a laugh. We break and deliver. Let them prove it. Inspectors from the wrong countries will not be allowed into the territory of the Russian Federation and the DPRK.

    This should have been done ten years ago. Minimum! And don’t lick the ass of the European Union and America. And today Moscow has changed its shoes. Like, I realized my mistakes. And if it weren’t for the SVO, would the realization of our mistakes never have come?

    Well, it’s as if you’re living in the middle of the last century: you still think that Bonds and Bournes are running around everywhere, getting information with the help of a gun and seducing women. For a long time now, satellites have been flying in near space, and from there they can see the dandruff on your jacket. What can we say about such equipment as an oil tanker? Then count the number of walks back and forth and draw some conclusions. If anything, oil tankers are slightly different from container ships, and it is difficult to confuse them
