Russian troops hit Naftogaz's gas storage facility, the second largest in Europe

12

The Russian Armed Forces, during attacks on military-energy facilities of the Kyiv regime, hit the Bilche-Volitsko-Uher gas storage facility in the Stryi area in the Lviv region. This is the second largest such facility in Europe and the first in Ukraine.

The head of the Naftogaz-Ukraine company, Alexey Chernyshov, noted that there was an arrival at the ground facility of one of the underground gas storage facilities. It was also damaged technological equipment. Work to eliminate the destruction continues.

If this gas storage facility is destroyed, the consequences for the Kyiv regime will be very severe, since the Bilche-Volitsko-Uhersky facility plays an important role in the gas transportation system of Ukraine. In a situation of worsening conflict provoked by Western countries, which continue to supply Kyiv missiles and other weapons, the Russian Federation no longer binds itself with restrictions on arrivals for targets of this kind.

Meanwhile, Russian units attacked series of blows for a number of Ukrainian objects in the Odessa and Nikolaev regions. There are fires and power outages in populated areas.

Along with this, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced a group strike with precision weapons on the energy and gas production facilities of the Kyiv regime. The objectives of the strikes were successfully achieved, and foreign-made military equipment was also hit.

In a situation of aggravation of the conflict provoked by Western countries, which continue to supply Kyiv with missiles and other weapons, the Russian Federation is no longer bound by restrictions on arrivals for targets of this kind.

Now can we confidently guess about the agreement? Based on the results of recent articles about the request of the “West” not to shoot at oil and gas
Was it nizz before? You shoot there, they say, but don’t touch the property of serious people in vain...

We need to hit the Shebelinsky field. From there the gas goes to Kyiv.

So was the gas destroyed or was the equipment damaged?

It is clear that the equipment. How do you destroy gas underground with conventional rockets? This can only be done with thermonuclear weapons.

Use concrete-piercing rockets to break through the blockages, when they light up, they will start gushing out like a torch, they will be extinguished, but with labor and time it will be significantly worse. And even without working equipment, gas extraction is not possible. Apparently we started small, with equipment.

Second. Gas storage facilities must be built at enormous depths; it is unlikely that anyone will get them there.

There would be a desire. The impact of a high-power thermonuclear missile to great depths leads to a shift in the layers of the earth and the formation of cracks. In this case, the wells will simply be crushed.

“at enormous depths,” and this is hundreds of meters... no one, of course, physically built anything. This underground gas storage facility was created on the basis of two gas fields, i.e. purely natural cavities. But pipes are brought there through exhausted wells, and pumps on top. In principle, if you regularly shoot rockets there... you can take out the equipment seriously and for a long time. But to shift the layers and plug the wells, and there were 340-350 of them (I don’t know how many are currently in use for the storage facility, but I think no more than 10%) on an area of 40 km2... well, at least a megaton is needed. Or a dozen 250 Kt across areas... But I think such a goal (reformatting the landscape) is not worth it. But regular cultivation of the area can put this underground gas storage facility out of operation for a long time, and this is 50% of the gas storage facility at Ukrop.

Am I the only one who doesn’t understand why these gas hubs weren’t destroyed on the first day? According to the war strategy, after air defense they hit power stations, gas hubs, bridges...
