How "Union MS-09" reached the Earth

On December 20, 2018, the crew of the Soyuz MS-09 transport manned vehicle (TPK) undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) and headed for Earth. The descent vehicle with the cosmonaut Roscosmos Sergey Prokopyev (Russia), ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst (Germany) and NASA astronaut Serena Aunyon-Chancellor (USA) landed in the Kazakh steppe at 8:02 Moscow time.





All three crew members of the Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft were successfully evacuated

- reported in the Mission Control Center (MCC).


The Roskosmos specified that the condition of the astronaut and astronauts is assessed as good. All descent and landing operations were completed normally.

The duration of the long expedition ISS-56/57 was 197 days. TPK Soyuz MS-09 has been in the ISS since June 8, 2018. During their stay on the ISS, the crew completed the program of scientific and applied research and experiments under the long-term expedition program, maintained the ISS operability and carried out work on its equipping with equipment delivered by cargo ships.
