Russia has retained its place in the elite club of aircraft manufacturers, to the envy of the West

29

November 1st for the first time rose up into the sky the domestic wide-body long-haul airliner Il-96-400M, created from Russian components. However, some compatriots, talking on social networks about further economical operation and serial production, did not even understand that Russia had carried out another aviationtechnical breakthrough and retained its place in the elite club of aircraft manufacturers.

This was noticed by Russian expert Yuri Podolyaka, who assessed what happened on his Telegram channel.

The expert noted that similar passenger aircraft (the outer diameter of the fuselage is 5-7 meters, 3 rows of seats and 2 aisles inside) are currently being built by only 3 companies on the planet: the American Boeing, the European Airbus and the Russian UAC, and that’s all. Perhaps in 5-10 years one of the PRC aircraft manufacturers will join this elite club, but in any case it will not have its own (Chinese) modern aircraft engine capable of lifting such a giant into the air, i.e. it is dependent.

The engine is the heart of the aircraft. And this is also its most high-tech unit, the creation of which today literally only a few countries can pull off. For example, jet engines for civil aviation can only be made independently by the USA, Great Britain... and Russia. Even France, which has the SNECMA company, did all its developments for civilian airliners only in cooperation with the USA or... again with Russia

- he specified.

According to the expert, despite the emerging “industrial muscles,” China will continue to depend on engine manufacturers in other countries for a long time. Therefore, there is a risk that if the West imposes sanctions against China similar to those against Russia, the Chinese simply will not be able to build a single airliner.

In fact, today, like 40 years ago, only Russia does not allow Western countries to have a complete monopoly in this matter, and that is why they tried with such frenzy to strangle both our aircraft and engine industries. From here, incl. all the many years of attempts to break all ties between Russia and Ukraine, which today have been crowned with complete success. But even this did not help them. Russia found the strength in itself and not only retained all the necessary technologies, but was also able to make a leap “to the level of world standards”

He summed up.

Quantity is the fifth thing, the main thing is that there are technologies, specialists and competencies.

making one plane based on an old one is not yet within our competence, let them at least build five, but for now we’re waiting...

Quantity and mass production are the most important thing! All our lives in Russia we had technology, specialists, scientists, especially under the USSR, but there was really nothing in the country. There are a lot of inventors, but zero implementation! We were the first to invent the personal computer, cell phone, etc., but then we purchased all this abroad.
Before SVO there were a lot of analogues on the internet, they were shouting about it on every corner, they were proud! But the war came and it turned out that they were all single copies, we could come up with them and cut them out with a file, but the army sucks!

It depends on which sector - “case number five”. In the civilian commercial sector, the issue of quantity is as important as quality. And also - fast and high-quality maintenance, with which Soviet-Russian aircraft manufacturers traditionally have big problems (this is also one of the reasons that airlines preferred to use the Western aircraft industry). For narrow military tasks, yes, a small quantity is suitable, but this will not ensure the development and filling of its own market, but will only cover narrow departmental needs.

Blades made of innovative materials in “heavy” aircraft engines reduce their weight. Today, “plastic” motors can be built in three countries: the USA, France and England. Russia, with a high degree of probability, can take fourth place.

The best answer to the West would be to put the PD-35 engine into production.

it would be nice, but there are still no PD-8 or PD-14 in the series

Well, we will have to wait and work for this for a long time. Find some “best answer” closer in time, for example - PD-8 and PD-14. By the way, it is the PD-14, as the most important engine for the largest aviation segment of the market, that is most important, and it is precisely it that can be called the “best answer.” PD-35 is, of course, good, but it is a rather narrow market niche, especially in the Russian Federation

The plane is a good thing. But “Peremoga” is evil.
Is the West jealous of a country that produces an average of 1n Il-96s per year?
Apparently, even the orderlies won’t help anymore, IMHO.

Yes, they envy us furiously, because soon we will catch up with their capacity - 500-700 aircraft per year. Airbus and Boeing are trembling

Podolyak is absolutely not an expert in this field and his assessments are purely journalistic, let’s say. In 5-10 years, the Chinese will create their own (or so) engine and begin mass production. And if we produce airplanes at a rate of a teaspoon per hour (and not only because of this), we will not have a sales market, and inside Russia they will cost exorbitant prices...

Well, you don’t need a lot of them to transport passengers in Russia. But, for the army, a cargo-passenger version is needed. And this is an additional several dozen. It's not all bad.

So far, nothing particularly good looks in the future. Once again: if several dozen of these aircraft are ever produced, they will be, figuratively speaking, golden...

And not a word about the fact that this plane began to be built in 2018. And it turns out that even though it’s a prototype for testing, it’s still 5 years of construction! Airbus produces more than 600 aircraft per year. Even if A350 makes up 10%, that’s more than 60 units per year! To count yourself among the list of the elite club, having released 1 prototype in 5 years, on 4 engines, which needs to be tested and improved for another 2-3 years - this is, of course, too presumptuous!

Russia has retained its place in the elite club of aircraft manufacturers, to the envy of the West

    - I ask spiteful critics to moderate their ardor - there are aircraft engine factories in the Russian Federation, and they work, and planes fly. Perhaps not all the latest technologies have been revealed, but the intelligence of our designers is undeniable. The best combat aircraft in the world are being built in Russia - as always, our military industry is at its best, the rest will follow, it’s worth a lot. I think that we have reason to be proud of our country!

best in the world? Are these the same ones that even fly around the UkroPVO a hundred miles away?

well, yes, until February 24.02.2022, XNUMX, we had a lot of “best in the world” things rolling around Red Square... but it’s not clear where it all went after that...

Is civil aviation expensive? expensive for someone, who takes money out of the country and builds yachts for themselves with this money? Well, of course, it’s expensive for THEM...

It’s expensive to buy football players from Brazil and Colombia to Zenit, who came, walked and took the money out, and investments in the aircraft industry are returned in built airplanes that work off these investments by transporting passengers... Have you looked at the map of Russia for a long time? How do you want to combine such spaces without an aircraft fleet??? or will you transport people from Vladivostok to Kazan on your “unparalleled” Su-57? production creates HIGHLY SKILLED jobs (what one “storyteller” dreamed of when he was younger), creates surplus value. and it is the surplus value that makes the country and its inhabitants richer, and not endless fairy tales about leaps and breakthroughs

It’s good that it’s rare, otherwise you wouldn’t get out of orgasm...You would have screamed so loudly when you smashed aviation, the same ones who suddenly became friends of the aviation industry...Instead of capturing MotorSich - ammonia pipelines, oil and gas pipelines...Not a small business admitted to the feeding trough...

place in the elite club of aircraft manufacturers to envy To the West

“Envy” of the number of Superjet 100s sold in large wholesale? The Mexicans went bankrupt, Iran will take it apart and make its own copies
And they sold their foreign share in a joint project with the Italians to the Arabs in this project

Blessed is he who believes in what he says. But in fact, we still have a long way to go to reach world standards. We are only returning to our level of the late eighties. That's when we started making IL-96. Now we are just beginning to remember how we did it. But the global level has not stood still for more than 35 years.

Flight to nowhere: what happened to the Superjet. A very interesting article. In short, the costs of its development and its production cost the same as the Boeing company. One good thing is that someone made a lot of money. The people are getting richer. This is for the benefit of Russia.
