Military coup averted in France
French counterintelligence DGSI has prevented an attempted military coup, newspaper Le Parisien writes. It is reported that the displacement of the current government was planned by the former deputy of the Democratic Movement party Remy Daiet and retired army lieutenant colonel Christophe M., holder of the Order of Merit before France.
According to the investigation, Christoph M. commanded the military wing of the "terrorist movement", which had branches throughout the country. The underground society included retired military personnel, employees of the French gendarmerie and other security services. Each region of France had its own curator with the rank of captain.
It is reported that the conspirators developed Operation Azure, which, among other things, involved the forcible seizure of the Elysee Palace, the buildings of various ministries, including the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as offices and studios of television and print media.
On Day X, militant units were to receive police shields, improvised explosive devices and small arms, which, by the way, were to be used only after the first shots from the French security forces.
As the lawyer of the ex-deputy Remy Daye, who is currently in custody, said, the politician called only for the peaceful overthrow of the current government and did not plan an armed confrontation.
