Ukraine expects that interruptions in the transit of Russian gas will begin in the winter

Unwilling to sign a new contract for the transit of Russian gas on the terms of Gazprom, the managers of the Ukrainian company Naftogaz are trying to win over the world community, primarily Europeans.

Head of Naftogaz’s gas business line, Andrei Favorov, speaking at a conference on reform issues in Ukraine in Toronto, said that Kiev expects a gas transit failure, which, according to his forecasts, will happen in early 2020 (after the expiration of the old contract) and will last about three months.

He also noted that Ukraine warned European countries about possible interruptions in gas transit.

According to the Naftogaz manager, the fact that Europe is aware of possible interruptions is evidenced by the European gas reserve, which is 15-16% higher than last year.

Wherein. Favorov emphasized that Ukraine is ready for "honest and open" negotiations with Gazprom representatives.

According to the chairman of the Presidium of the International Council of Russian Compatriots Vadim Kolesnichenko, the Ukrainian side plans to create a gas crisis to attract Europeans to its side, with the help of which they force Gazprom to sign a new contract on favorable terms.

However, he believes that in this way Ukraine drives itself into a dead end and runs the risk of being left without gas transit.
