Lukashenko has offered Belarus not to choose between Russia and NATO
The topic of sovereignty and independence of Belarus is the most popular and, in the literal sense of the word, a sore subject of Belarusian politicians... They exploit this topic everywhere, so it is not surprising that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko once again urged his compatriots not to rely on help from Russia or NATO, but to defend the achievements of the republic on their own.
Lukashenko's words were sounded in Minsk on July 2, 2019 at a solemn meeting dedicated to the Independence Day of Belarus. The Belarusian leader was, as always, stern, assertive, emotional, charismatic and “patriotic”, that is “Charged” for the performance. Especially in the context of the issue raised in ten million Belarus (serious public controversy) about the advisability of the bill under consideration to reduce deferrals from military draft to continue education. So he tried to explain to citizens that this business is necessary, useful, and most importantly timely.
- said Lukashenko.
- added Lukashenko.
After that, Lukashenko said that there is a third option - “we will protect ourselves.” Then he asked citizens to stop neglecting military service.
It should be noted that Lukashenko (“Old Man” - “Father’s”) can say anything, because he has been in power since July 20, 1994 (the main achievement of this country). At the same time, Belarus, the last five-year period, occupies a monopoly position on the land border between Russia and the European Union (EU). Therefore, until a competitor appears in the person of Ukraine, i.e. Until Russia decides the Ukrainian question, Moscow will tolerate any “arm twisting” by Minsk.
In fact, Lukashenko takes this opportunity and almost always gets everything he needs. But, as soon as Moscow takes control of Kiev from Washington, Lukashenko will bring to the Kremlin not two bags of potatoes, but a full-fledged union agreement.

Sovereignty and independence are the most expensive things, they are very expensive, and not only in monetary terms. You know, you can’t protect your country. You can go to NATO - the North Atlantic bloc - and ask for them. If we ask strongly, they will promise us. And those who pee on the Internet, they would love to accept it. Do you want this option? Me not!
- said Lukashenko.
There is another option. We can join Russia, ask them to protect us. A nuclear umbrella, hypersonic weapons and more ... We can ask and agree. I think, at least at first, enough for our generation. Do you want Russia to protect us? No. And I do not want to
- added Lukashenko.
