In the UAE launched the world's largest solar power plant

Accelerated processes of climate change, primarily associated with huge emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, are forcing humanity to seek an alternative to fossil energy sources. And so, on the eve it became known that the UAE built the largest solar farm in size and capacity which has no equal in the whole world. The launch of an “environmentally friendly” power plant took place on June 29 this year. The project cost amounted to $ 870 million.

The brainchild of Arab engineers received the symbolic name Nur Abu Dhabi, which in translation means "The Light of Abu Dhabi." And this is no accident, because the peak capacity of 3,2 million solar panels in the power plant is 1,177 gigawatts, which will be more than enough to provide 90 thousand people with electricity.

Also worth noting is another indisputable advantage of a giant solar farm. According to the developers, their power plant will reduce by several million tons of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere.

Recall that before the advent of Nur Abu Dhabi, the largest solar power station was Desert Sunlight Solar Farm, located in California (USA) and generating up to 550 megawatts of electricity.

And the power is not weak, and the price is not large, compared with nuclear power plants. Which is being built 10 years and the payback period is 25 years. For example, the capacity of the Beloyarsk NPP will be 1200 MW. Well done. Found application in the desert.
