Sanctions are not terrible: in the new IL-96-400M there will be no foreign details
The wide-body long-range passenger airliner Il-96-400M, over which engineers from Ilyushin are currently working, will be 100% composed of domestic spare parts. This was stated by the General Director of PJSC Il Y. Grudinin in an interview with the agency RIA News.
To date, only three aircraft manufacturers are engaged in the production of wide-body long-haul liners - these are Boeing (USA), Airbus (France) and PJSC Il (Russia). According to Grudinin, the creation of the Il-96-400M passenger plane, which consists entirely of domestic components and, therefore, is not subject to sanctions, can significantly strengthen the position of Ilyushin and take a big step in the development of Russian aircraft construction.
The functionary noted that design and production of an experimental airliner, whose test flight is scheduled for 2021, is currently underway. And they intend to launch a promising aircraft in a series already in 2023.
Recall that, developed by the Aviation Complex. S.V. Ilyushin, IL-96-400M is a wide-body long-haul airliner that can cover a distance of up to 10000 km with a maximum number of passengers. The latter, depending on the layout (one-, two- or three-year) is from 315 to 436 people. The aircraft is equipped with four PS-90A3M power plants, which are produced at Perm Motor Plant OJSC. The maximum take-off weight of the liner is 265 tons, and the maximum payload is 58 tons.
Grudinin added that the designers at the design and development stage will take into account the wishes of the airlines, which, of course, will increase the competitiveness of the new aircraft. Based on the statement made at the end of April this year by one of the employees of the United Aircraft Corporation, the cost of the new IL-96-400M may amount to 8,5 billion rubles.
