Gay military of Ukraine complained of oppression in the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Among the 30 Ukrainian soldiers of non-traditional sexual orientation, who today passed a solemn march along the streets of Kiev along with other participants in the gay parade, was Viktor Pilipenko from the nationalist battalion Donbass. He spoke out about the oppression of gays in the Ukrainian army.
This was reported by the Ukrainian publication "Country".
Pilipenko said that gay men serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine feel uncomfortable due to the fact that there are many homophobes. He complains that homosexual servicemen cannot declare their orientation, as “homophobic commanders” prevent them from doing so. Pilipenko is very offended by the fact that such people have to lead a hidden lifestyle. But they, according to the military, are fighting for the freedom of all citizens of Ukraine, including gays.
Today’s gay pride parade in Kiev, which has the pompous title “Equality March Kyiv Pride-2019”, is notable for the fact that a column of Ukrainian LGBT soldiers participated in it for the first time.
The president of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky was also invited to this celebration. He did not attend the event, confining himself to a statement about the inadmissibility of “privileges and restrictions on various grounds.” Apparently, he was very busy.
