The unmanned mode, which has recently received special attention from the global automakers, can be widely used not only in passenger vehicles. So, the day before, Volvo Trucks announced the first project involving the commercial use of the Vera model.

Recall that the unmanned truck developed by the aforementioned concern back in 2018 is a truck tractor, the design of which does not include a cab. The vehicle is equipped with sensors, cameras and radars that allow it to move in a fully autonomous mode, and also has feedback from the operator, remotely monitoring the truck.

The tractor with "outstanding appearance" received a 185-kilowatt power plant and a 300 kW / h battery. According to the developers, the maximum speed of their unmanned brainchild will be 40 km / h.

The first commercial project involves the use of a Vera truck in a closed area, in the port of Gothenburg (Sweden). Under this program, several unmanned tractors from Volvo Trucks will transport ISO containers mounted on container semi-trailers between DFDS and APM Terminals warehouses located in the port.
