GLONASS satellites will become fully Russian

The import substitution program in the GLONASS system is planned to be fully implemented over the next 4 years. This was stated by the agency TASS Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Council of Roscosmos Corporation Yuri Koptev.

At the moment, Russian navigation equipment includes spare parts supplied by foreign companies. However, within the framework of the aforementioned program, domestic developers plan to gradually replace imported components in GLONASS satellites with parts of their own production, thereby completely eliminating the dependence of the system on foreign suppliers.

It is worth noting that the implementation of the program began last year. Every year it is planned to replace a certain range of foreign components. In turn, full import substitution should take place by 2023.

Recall that the domestic navigation system today includes 27 satellites. 24 devices were put into operation, and the remaining three are in the orbital reserve and at the stage of commissioning. In May of this year, the Glonass-M satellite was successfully launched. In addition, in 2019, it is planned to send two more devices: Glonass-K and Glonass-K2.
