NASA is ready to open the ISS for everyone

The day before, NASA unveiled an official decision that would allow people without special training to visit the ISS US segment and implement their projects there. The agency emphasized that it is American innovation that will create a thriving commercial environment in low Earth orbit.

It is worth noting that tourist flights to the International Space Station have never been out of the ordinary. 7 people have already visited the orbital complex, and this, not taking into account the numerous guests from various space agencies. However, if before the aforementioned innovation the participant of such a “trip” had to undergo a rigorous selection process with no less rigorous training, now it will only be sufficient to prove the importance of the intended mission.

The American Space Agency emphasized that this program is aimed solely at obtaining funds for the further development of new projects. NASA also reported the cost of 24 hours of stay at the orbital station, which will be $ 35. This amount includes food and the use of equipment of the orbital complex. However, a flight to the ISS and a return to Earth will have to be paid separately.

A tangible obstacle to the implementation of the project may be the Pentagon’s refusal to cooperate with the Russian Federation. In this case, NASA will have to use the services of SpaceX Corporation, while Bigelow Aerospace is already working hard on its own program of commercial space flights for four people at a time. At the same time, the agency does not hide that they are in dire need of funding and momentum for the development of “their” launch vehicles, and the aforementioned program will increase investment.
