The commission of the state corporation Roscosmos approved the draft design presented by the RSC Energia company of the latest domestic medium-class launch vehicle Soyuz-5.

Russia introduced a competitor to SpaceX

The design of the rocket includes two successive stages with engines RD171MV and RD0124MS for the first and second stages, respectively. The diameter of the rocket is 4,1 meters and a length of 61,87 meters. The rocket will be able to put up to 18 tons of payload into a low Earth orbit, and its mass itself will be 530 tons.

According to representatives of Roskosmos, the developers of the project did a tremendous amount of work in order to determine the final look and design of the new rocket. The creation of launch vehicles of this class will provide the space industry with the means of launching manned transport ships and automated spacecraft into low Earth orbit, and other bodies of the solar system.

Technologiesunderlying Soyuz-5 will be used in the development of super-heavy Russian launch vehicles, which, in turn, will provide for future ambitious projects, such as flying to the moon.

Or maybe it's time to create another system? For example, a stepless system, where there will be an air launch platform (VSP) and immediately an orbital complex with a rocket. The VSP can be of various designs, for example, in the form of a torus-balloon with hot air, engines and a nuclear power plant (YaSU) and in the form of a flying torus-saucer also equipped with YaSU and engines. VASP rises to 60-100 km, and from there the orbital complex is already launching into space.
