Trump wants to introduce a state of emergency on the Mexican border

President of the United States Donald Trump plans to introduce a state of emergency on the southern border of his state, the Mexican border. The draft declaration, drawn up by the head of the American state, was in the hands of journalists of the newspaper The Hill.

The document claims that the United States has repeatedly asked Mexico to block the flow of illegal migrants from their country, but the inaction of the Mexican authorities only led to its increase.

Policy from the White House at a closed meeting have already discussed the draft and expressed their opinion on this matter.

Trump intends to fight illegal migration from Mexico economic methods. He wants to put pressure on the authorities of the southern neighbor by increasing duties. This could push Mexico City to tighten control over its border.

The introduction of a state of emergency is necessary for the American president to circumvent possible opposition from Congress. This is not an assumption. US Neighborhood Revenue and Tax Commission Chairman Richard Neal has already announced his intention to block Mexico’s tariff increase. If lawmakers try to do this, the state of emergency will help Trump ignore congressional opinion and act in his own way.
