The British audit and consulting company EY (Ernst & Young) presented the results of an annual study that could cause cognitive dissonance at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

According to these results, despite the constant tightening of sanctions by the US administration and, in general, rather cool official relations between the countries, the United States for the first time since 2013 took first place in the number of investment projects in Russia. Research materials are available from RBC.

According to the agency, now American investors account for 33 projects, which is 16% of all investment projects in Russia.

Especially popular with American investors are Moscow and St. Petersburg. So, in Moscow and the Moscow region, the Americans invested in 11 projects, and in the northern capital and the region - in 4 projects.

Germany ranks second in investment in Russia, and China in third.

Factors that played a decisive role in attracting investors in Russia, the agency calls low inflation and accelerated economic growth.

The main industries where foreigners willingly invest their money, according to the agency are production, sales and marketing, research and development.

Recall that the British consulting agency EY is among the "Big Four" agencies involved in this type of activity.
