The military court of the Lugansk People’s Republic convicted 16 citizens of Ukraine involved in organizing the murder of the head of the People’s Police of the Republic Oleg Anashchenko.

Recall that Colonel Oleg Vladimirovich Anashchenko, a graduate of the Rostov Higher Military Command and Engineering School of Missile Forces named after Marshal Nedelin, served in the Strategic Missile Forces, went to the reserve with the rank of lieutenant colonel, and then worked as the head of a separate unit of the Lugansk mine department of the Luganskugol GP.

Since 2014, Anashchenko took part in protecting the Lugansk People’s Republic from aggression from Ukraine. First, Anashchenko commanded the LPR air defense forces, and then received a promotion, was the chief of staff and the head of the LPR People’s Police Department.

February 4, 2017 the car of Oleg Anashchenko was blown up. The colonel and his driver died. Almost immediately, the LPR authorities had no doubts - the car explosion was a terrorist act, planned and carried out by a sabotage and reconnaissance group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Suspects of sabotage were detained.

As the LNR special services managed to find out, the planning and implementation of the sabotage was entrusted to the 8th Special Purpose Regiment of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Sixteen Ukrainian citizens arrested in this case were brought to trial. All of them received impressive terms of imprisonment - from 11 to 20 years and 6 months.
