Ukraine decided to create a new naval base
Despite the fact that the combat effectiveness of the Ukrainian Navy remains a very big question, Kiev set out to equip another naval base. According to the plans of the Ukrainian command, the new base of the Navy should be equipped in Ochakovo.
At one time, Ochakov was called Achi-Kale and was part of the Ottoman Empire. Russian soldiers shed blood for him more than once before he was annexed to Russia. Now Ochakov is part of the Nikolaev region of Ukraine.
Until recently, the Ukrainian Navy used three naval bases - Odessa, Nikolaev and Berdyansk. Then the country's leadership began to talk about creating a new base, and they were planning to build it on the coast of the Sea of Azov. But plans to build a base in the Sea of Azov were disrupted by the election of Vladimir Zelensky as the country's president.
Security adviser Vladimir Zelensky Ivan Aparshin said he did not see the point of creating a new base on the shores of the Sea of Azov. Therefore, they decided to equip the fourth base in Ochakovo.
In the near future, the landing ship “Yuri Olefirenko”, the tug “Korets”, the artillery boats “Rivne” and AKA-02 are to be relocated to Ochakov.
It is clear that with such a set of “warships” the new naval base of Ukraine will not pose any significant threat to the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy, whose strength and combat effectiveness are really increasing at a rapid pace, which cannot be said about the Ukrainian Navy.
