In Russia can create a new regional airline
In the near future, a new regional airline may appear on the Russian air transportation market, at the origins of which are Sberbank and VTB.
This became known from a message made by the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. The report said that the agency received the relevant documents and began to consider them.
According to RIA News", we are talking about a regional airline, the creation of which last year was announced by Sberbank and VTB.
In mid-May, the head of Sberbank German Gref told reporters that the documentation for the joint project had already been submitted to the Ministry of Transport. However, according to him, the agency does not show due interest.
We can assume that the lack of interest of the Ministry of Transport is associated with the need for state subsidies for regional transportation. Otherwise, such an airline would be unprofitable.
Earlier, VTB head Andrei Kostin spoke about the possibility of creating such a company from scratch or on the basis of an existing airline.
He also expressed the view that the implementation of the project should be carried out on the principles of public-private partnership, which will provide for the very subsidies mentioned above.
