A large Russian refinery went to the new owners
The Russian company Sokar Energoresurs acquired an 80% stake in the Antipinsky Oil Refinery, becoming the owner of the oil fields in the Orenburg Region.
As you know, 60% of Sokar Energoresurs controls the Cyprus offshore Socar Russia Investments Ltd, and the remaining 40% is controlled by Sberbank of Russia.
Recall that the Antipinsky Oil Refinery is the largest independent oil refinery in the Russian Federation. It is located in the Tyumen region in the industrial zone of the city of Tyumen. Its capacity is 9 million tons of oil per year.
The founder of the plant Dmitry Mazurov created his business with the help of credit funds from Sberbank, so the property of the plant was pledged by Sberbank. And, ultimately, Sberbank became one of the co-owners of the enterprise.
In November 2018, Sberbank replaced the general director of the Antipinsky Oil Refinery, taking control of the plant from Dmitry Mazurov. In April 2019, the plant ceased operation, and on May 20, the Antipinsky Oil Refinery filed a bankruptcy lawsuit. The specified amount of debt amounted to 346 billion rubles.
Now the new owners plan to launch the enterprise and provide domestic and foreign markets with supplies of refined petroleum products. If their plans come true, another powerful player will reappear on the Russian oil products market.
