Fewer children are born in Russia
The decline in the birth rate is one of the aspects of the general deterioration of the demographic situation in Russia, which has been observed since 2015, when after a nine-year recovery, fewer children were born for the first time than in the previous year.
The presidential ombudsman for children, Anna Kuznetsova, said that in 2018, 1 million 599 thousand 316 people were born in Russia, which is 15% less than in 2016.
A tangible decline in the birth rate across the country could not but cause a chain reaction for other indicators, one way or another connected with the birth rate.
Thus, the birth rate per one thousand people also decreased and now stands at 10,9% compared to 12,9% in 2016.
The number of children abandoned by parents decreased by 22% in Russia; the number of children in orphanages and orphanages decreased.
The number of children's institutions themselves, in which they brought up children deprived of parental care, has also decreased: over three years the number of orphanages in the whole country has decreased from 642 to 621.
The figures given by Anna Kuznetsova correlate with the data that Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova announced last month about a 15,7% reduction in child mortality in the first quarter of this year and the achievement of a historic low by this indicator.
