Russia sharply restricted the export of petroleum products to Ukraine

The new authorities of Ukraine are concerned about the sharp decline in the supply of petroleum products from Russia and are trying to find a way out of the situation that could end in crisis.

Representative of the President of Ukraine in the government Andriy Gerus on his Facebook page said that at an expanded meeting of the NSDC, which took place last Friday, the country's energy security was discussed. In particular, Russia's restriction on the export of oil products to Ukraine.

According to him, after restrictions on the supply of petroleum products came into force on June 1, exports of these products from Russia fell by 30-50%.

The presidential representative noted that the situation in Ukraine is now stable due to low demand and the created surplus of oil products, but in order to avoid a crisis and destabilization, Kiev needs to reorient to supplies from other countries.

Andrei Gerus believes that the search for new sources of supply should be done very quickly - before harvesting, when fuel demand begins to grow rapidly.

However, according to experts, if Russia really cuts off supplies, and does not lead them into the shadows, as was the case with South African and Australian coal, then Ukraine will simply have nothing to replace Russian oil products with: cover the existing deficit, and Kiev does not have the appropriate infrastructure to receive such an amount of oil products by the sea.
