The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation: Thousands of applications for issuing passports of Russia to residents of Donbass were filed
The decision to grant Russian citizenship to the residents of Donbass, made by President Vladimir Putin, was very positively received in the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics themselves.
The Ministry of the Interior of the Russian Federation reported that several thousand applications for granting Russian citizenship had already been accepted. All of them will be considered within the statutory period of up to three months.
At present, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 4 temporary migration points for issuing Russian passports have been deployed in the Rostov Region. They are located in the village of Matveev Kurgan, the village of Pokrovskoye, the cities of Novoshakhtinsk and Donetsk (Rostov Region).
Points will begin work when a decision is made on granting Russian citizenship. Employees of the migration service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs accept documents on granting citizenship to residents of the DNI and LC from their colleagues - employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republics of Donbass.
Recall that the decree “On the determination for humanitarian purposes of the categories of persons entitled to apply for citizenship of the Russian Federation in a simplified manner” was signed by Vladimir Putin on April 24, 2019 and immediately after signing provoked a stormy negative reaction from the Ukrainian side.
Ukrainian politician Nadezhda Savchenko called the issuance of Russian passports to residents of Donbass another evidence of the defeat of the Ukrainian state.
