Ukrainian Nazis demolished the monument to Zhukov in Kharkov
Today in Kharkov, local nationalists demolished the monument to Soviet Marshal Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov. This was reported by the local television channel, which was made by one of the demolition participants.
Maxim Zhorin, who heads the eastern wing of the neo-fascist National Corps party, told reporters the following:
The fact that Zhorin called Marshal of Victory a “pro-Russian politician” says a lot about his intelligence.
When the nationalists began to attempt to demolish the monument, the police tried to prevent them. A detachment with helmets and batons arrived to counter the radicals. Very soon, law enforcement officers stepped aside, ceasing to interfere with the actions of the gathered raging crowd. After that, the vandals piled the bust off the pedestal.
Perhaps these actions of the Nazis are associated with the opening of the Congress of the Trust in Affairs party Gennady Kernes, which took place on the same day. The fact is that the mayor of Kharkov, Kernes, is actively opposing attempts to remove the name of Marshal Zhukov from the city streets. In May, he proposed returning his name to the metro station and avenue.
When last year, neo-Nazis demolished a bust of Zhukov, Gennady Adolfovich ordered to restore it. Now Kernes, without wasting time, agreed with the Vozrozhdenie fund to allocate funds for the restoration of the bust and promised to return the monument to the city as soon as possible.
