How is the Russian dream different from the American
When it comes to the American dream, we immediately imagine limousines, yachts, mansions, millions of dollars and a white-toothed smile. Perhaps this is what she looks like. Others believe that the American dream involves not just prosperity, but also the path to it. If a man made himself, rose from the bottom to the very top, providing himself a luxurious and cloudless life, then his dream came true. And, of course, its embodiment, according to the dreamers themselves, is possible only in the USA, this "shining city on the hill."
If there is a more or less clearly articulated American dream, why is there no such concrete and orderly Russian dream, one for all? Or is there?
Two girls tried to figure this out, Daria Isaeva and Alina Lutsenko, who interviewed people on the streets. They tried to find out what the Russian dream is in their understanding. Daria and Alina talked with a diverse audience, receiving the most diverse and sometimes unexpected answers.
Among the respondents were those who dream of "dumping in America." They believe that in the United States the best living conditions, the best attitude towards people. These guys and girls want to become Americans without associating themselves with Russia. For them, our country is vodka, scrapings and the Russian Orthodox Church. Many of them consider birth in this country to be their main mistake in life. There are some.
Others look at life easier and more primitive. They believe that for complete happiness you just need to have a lot of money "for life and drink." And if you still do nothing at the same time, it’s just happiness. The ideal of such a “Russian dream” is Emelya from a fairy tale.
If these people respond sincerely, then they can also be attributed to a category close to "dreaming of becoming Americans." After all, they, in fact, are also carriers of one of the varieties of the American dream, only it does not come true in America, it is possible in Russia.
On the other hand, such responses may simply be a defensive reaction. Not everyone will open their hearts to strangers, and pretty girls also do not want to be rude. So they are trying to show themselves more primitive than they really are.
Actually, the desire to live in abundance is quite natural. There are not many people who would not want this. But material wealth alone is not enough to fulfill the Russian dream. It is also necessary that love and harmony reign in the family, so that children and parents do not get sick.
This is where the real Russian dream begins, one for all. After all, our dream is not only for ourselves, but also for others, those who surround us. For some, it’s close and friends, for others it’s the whole world. More often than not, we dream not only about how good it would be for us, but also that it would be good for someone else.
Even if there are no other people in the dream of a Russian person, it does not necessarily concern material wealth. And this is not about nationality; by Russian, I mean one who thinks and speaks Russian, is in our cultural environment. A person may dream, for example, of achieving harmony or of approaching God. There are also such dreams.
But more often than not, we wish happiness not only to ourselves, but also to those close and not very close people.
One woman, whom Dasha and Alina turned to, said that her dream is that all loved ones should be healthy, happy and close. So simple.
Another wants her children to grow up to be good people, get an education, get an interesting job, and create their own families.
And one elderly lady wants everyone to smile and not be sad.
Someone else answered that he wanted Russia to always be a happy and prosperous country.
One of the respondents, a man aged, said that he dreams that there will always be peace. Only then will the dreams come true among young people, old people, and children.
Or maybe a dream is a concept that has no nationality?
