Crimea is ready to challenge Western sanctions in the European Court

Crimea, which has long been under EU sanctions, decided to go on the offensive and legally seek their cancellation.

The head of the working group on international legal issues at the Permanent Mission of Crimea to the President of the Russian Federation, Alexander Molokhov, during the VII International Maritime Business Forum in Sevastopol, came up with an initiative to appeal to the European Court with a request to cancel the EU sanctions against Crimea in a judicial proceeding.

According to Molokhov, the implementation of this initiative requires the approval of the supreme authority of Russia, therefore, the proposal has been prepared and will be sent to the appropriate federal authorities in the near future.

The lawyer believes that such a process has every chance of success and therefore it is important and necessary to fight the decision of the EU in the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.

His confidence is based on the fact that there is a clear contradiction in the Western decision on sanctions.

On the one hand, Europe announces the occupation of Crimea, on the other, with its sanctions it once again punishes people who are allegedly in occupation - restricts their movement and so on.

According to Molokhov, Crimeans should now announce as loudly as possible the need to lift sanctions at all available international venues.
