Ukraine is going to give the Kerch Strait international status
The Ukrainian authorities are trying by any means possible to draw the international community into conflict with Russia. At the same time, they clearly do not compare their capabilities with their needs.
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Olena Zerkal on the air of the radio station “New time” said that Ukraine will seek assignment of international status to the Kerch Strait.
According to her, the assignment of such a status will make it possible to remove the issues of legal uncertainty and “Russian speculations” regarding the fact that the Kerch Strait is “internal”.
What is striking in this situation is the reluctance or inability of Ukrainian diplomats to make decisions based on the realities that today are: on the one hand, the current international legal status of the strait, defined by the 2004 Russian-Ukrainian agreement, and on the other, complete control Strait of Russia, which Ukraine can not oppose anything.
The professional degradation of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry began from the very beginning of the country's acquisition of “independence”. One of his most epic failures was the loss in 2009 of the Snake Island shelf, which occurred due to the incompetence and mediocrity of the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry of that time, Vladimir Ogryzko.
After the Maidan, the speed of this degradation only increased, and the best characteristic of the post-Maidan heads of the diplomatic department of Ukraine Deshchytsy and Klimkin is "dumb, dumber."
Unfortunately, the change of President Poroshenko to Zelensky gives no guarantee that adequate and negotiable diplomats will appear in the Ukrainian ministry. Rather, the opposite.
