On May 27, 2019, at about 11:00, a man with a knife attacked the editorial board of the Rodina newspaper in Stavropol. The deputy of the Duma of the Stavropol Territory Viktor Lozovoy said that the attacker demanded that some article about Joseph Stalin be published. As a result of the attack, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper, Nikolai Bondarenko, and three employees of the Communist Party regional committee were injured.





He demanded that his article on Stalin be published. When he was told that they would consider this decision at the board, he took out a hunting knife and attacked the editor-in-chief

Lozovoy added that, in his opinion, the attack on the newspaper’s editorial staff and members of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation in Stavropol was carried out by a mentally ill person, since he was in an openly inadequate state. It should be noted that the Rodina newspaper is published by the local branch of the Communist Party.


At the same time, police reported that the attacking man was detained. It turned out that this is a 73-year-old resident of Stavropol Konstantin Sidnev, who suffered from a mental illness and was registered in a neuropsychiatric dispensary. It must be clarified that the injured were not injured in their lives.

Two have already been released home, two more are being decided on hospitalization
