The person following him inserts a card and sees a request to enter a PIN code, enters it, and loses the amount indicated by the fraudster in this operation. The ability to perform this type of fraud is limited to one and a half minutes, after which the ATM cancels the operation.
All that Sberbank can offer in this situation is a recommendation to clients to be careful and refuse the operation at the slightest suspicion.
However, experts note that the fault is not the carelessness of the customers, but a number of settings of the Sberbank ATMs themselves, thanks to which such a fraudulent trick becomes possible.
In particular, this applies to settings such as the inability to access the menu without an inserted card and a too long period of time until the operation is canceled.
