Zelensky officially became the president of Ukraine
The inauguration ceremony of the new President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, which Petro Poroshenko and the Verkhovna Rada were pulling with all their might, took place.
According to tradition, Vladimir Zelensky took the oath to the Ukrainian people, putting his hand on the constitution and the Peresopnytsia Gospel, after which the head of the Constitutional Court announced his assumption of office as head of state.
As head of state, the new president received the symbols of power: the president’s badge in the form of an order chain, the official seal and a mace.
Political experts agree that the Ukrainians chose Vladimir Zelensky not so much because of his personal qualities or belief in his ability, but as a counterweight to the former president Poroshenko.
After all, it is exclusively with Poroshenko and his people that all the internal and external failures of Ukraine over the past five years are connected. Including a permanent civil war in the east of the country, which continues to take lives.
The extent to which the hatred of Ukrainian citizens towards the former president has grown is evidenced by the result with which Vladimir Zelensky won the second round - 73,22% of the vote against 24,45%.
But, as history has shown by the example of former presidents, the same Poroshenko or Yushchenko, such a vote of confidence can melt very quickly if the new president does not fulfill his election promises.
