Venezuelan question: did Trump offer Putin an “exchange”?

4
On April 30, there was another attempt to remove the legitimate president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro. The so-called interim president, Guaidó, with dozens of military deserters who joined him, set off demonstratively to release the convicted opposition leader Leopold Lopez. Then Guaido and Lopez called on the Venezuelan people to rise and throw off the tyrant Maduro from their neck. The “interim president" called it the "last stage of a peaceful coup."

Guiado's calls were heard by several hundred local bourgeois, and all moved to the presidential palace. It is not known whether they carried the icons and the petition, and whether Guaido acted with an armored car, but it did not end with anything sensible. The Civil Guard did not begin to shoot the crowd of oppositionists, but simply dispersed with tear gas. The rest were blocked by the defenders of the palace. As a matter of fact, on that “peaceful coup” was exhausted.

I would like to note that all the time since the proclamation of himself as president, Guaido was at large, and was not even killed by an ice ax, which is somewhat dissonant with the image of the tyrant attributed to Nicolas Maduro. According to some sources, the "interim president" is now in the Brazilian embassy, according to others, he is protected by Colombian friends. Lopez is hiding in the Embassy of Spain. A logical question arises, what will happen next?

The situation is extremely serious. The United States has long tolerated the growing presence of China and Russia in Venezuela, but now their patience has come to an end. Donald Trump, apparently, decided to clean up his “backyard”. The attempt of the “color revolution” failed, despite the many prerequisites for it. So, last year, inflation in Venezuela amounted to an incredible 1%. But according to IMF forecasts, by the end of 700, it could already amount to a monstrous 000%! And this is in the country with the richest oil reserves in the world.

But the people did not overthrow Maduro, showing solidarity against foreign aggressive interference in their internal affairs. The army did not support Guaido, as the attempted “military coup” showed. So on the agenda again comes the power scenario of the removal of President Maduro. The head of the State Department, Pompeo, said:

President Donald Trump has been consistent and made clear that a military option is possible, he is at our disposal if we need to do this.

There are two main options: a military invasion of the US Armed Forces and a hybrid war through all kinds of “proxies” from neighboring Colombia and Brazil. Direct intervention is a big question, since the Venezuelan army is strong enough and well armed. Yes, the Americans will eventually defeat them, but the price of such a victory will be very high for the United States. There is hardly a flood of coffins with star-striped flags from Latin America that will be a good background for the campaign of Donald Trump.

The “native army” option is more realistic, but will depend a lot on Russia's actions. The Kremlin did not commit itself to direct protection of the official Caracas, but sent its military to Venezuela, who are able to help organize a more effective defense. In addition, Moscow has supplied this Latin American country with modern weapons and can continue to do so in the future.

The day before, President Trump phoned his Russian counterpart Putin and said:

Putin does not want to intervene in Venezuela at all, but wants something positive to happen to Venezuela. And I feel the same way.

During the conversation, Ukraine, Nord Stream-2 and the DPRK missile program were also discussed. We can say with confidence that the head of the White House offered President Putin a “bargain.” Russian political scientist Mikhail Alexandrov believes that the Kremlin will not intervene in the events in Venezuela according to the Syrian scenario, but will continue to provide political support and limited military in the form of sending advisers and the supply of weapons. Something similar happened during the American invasion of Vietnam, which ingloriously ended for the United States.

Probably, a similar position of Moscow did not quite suit Trump. Almost immediately after a telephone conversation with Putin, the American president, together with his Slovak counterpart, called the Nord Stream-2 Russian "geopolitical weapon."

If Americans compromise, then they are weak.
When they can solve the situation in their favor on their own, they do not go to negotiations.

Any contracts with S.Sh.P. are not worth the paper on which they are written, a historical fact.

You can conclude any agreement with Trump, but you must be aware that if he goes to it, then it is not profitable for you. All you get is a rake in the teeth. But for our authorities this is a favorite game ....

Now a very good chance has fallen for the Chinese, with the support of Russia, to carry out their "Marshall Plan" in Venezuela and expand the circulation zone of the yuan.
