Russian scientists are developing a new generation of remotely controlled underwater robots designed to study the bottom of lakes and bays.

The robotic complex, which is being developed by the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology RAS and the Russian company Underwater Robotics, will consist of two components: an unmanned ship and a robot. This is reported RIA News".

To manage the complex, it is planned to use several interchangeable options: an Internet connection, a radio channel within the range of radio visibility, and satellite communications.

Such variability significantly expands the capabilities of the operator and determines its distance from the complex. The distance between the operator and the complex can be thousands of kilometers.

As an unmanned vessel, it is planned to use an unmanned catamaran with hydroacoustic devices. With a catamaran, using a cable of several hundred meters, a drone will be connected to conduct a survey of the bottom and its scanning using the devices placed on it.

The area of use of the complex can be exploration work in water bodies, as well as inspection of the underwater part of ships, drilling rigs and sections of various underwater communications.

According to Evgeny Sherstnev, deputy director of Underwater Robotics, the development is unique and has no analogues in the world.
