According to the agency TASS, with reference to the state-owned corporation Roscosmos, the launch of the Angara-A5 heavy rocket with the latest RB Perseus could take place in 2020. Recall that the family of the aforementioned devices includes 3 classes of carriers: light “A1.2”, medium “A3” and heavy “A5” with modifications “A5M”, “A5P” (manned) and “A5V” (increased carrying capacity).

When designing the basic module of the new overclocking unit, we used operating time with RB 11S861-03, 452GK and 314GK.A18. In fact, the Prometheus or 14C48 is a modification of the RB 11C861 designed for the Proton-M missile within the framework of the Dvina-DM rocket. However, in view of the fact that the life of Soviet carriers expires already in 2026, the subsequent modernization of the upper stage is carried out within the framework of the Perseus-KV development exclusively for Angara-A5 missiles.

According to available information, the new RB will receive an improved pneumohydrosystem and an increased volume of fuel tanks. In addition, a new 14D48MF mid-flight engine, which has improved energy characteristics, will be installed in 11C58. And also, the new RB “Perseus” will operate on environmentally friendly fuel components.

It is assumed that the first 14C48 booster block for the Angara-A5 rocket will be created at the cosmodrome in Plesetsk. In the future, a similar complex may appear at the Vostochny spaceport.
