The newest engine PD-14 is not suitable for flying to Europe

43
The PD-14 aircraft engine being developed in Russia turned out to be unsuitable for operation in Europe and the USA. The thing is in the strict standards and requirements of Western countries used for certification of power plants for aircraft. At the same time, this engine received a “type certificate” from the Federal Air Transport Agency in December 2018.

As it became known "Russian newspaper", The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation announced a tender to finalize the PD-14. The cost of work should not exceed 12 billion rubles, and the deadline for the finished product is limited to December 15, 2021.

As an expert in the field of aviation materials science, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yevgeny Kablov, only by increasing the reliability of the engine, increasing its service life and other operational characteristics, you can count on receiving a certificate from the European Safety Agency.

But on the basis of the PD-14 gas generator, we plan to create a whole line of aircraft engines of different power - from PD-8 and PD-12 to 8 and 12 tons of thrust, respectively, to powerful PD-35 with thrust from 33 to 40 tons. Therefore, it is extremely important to certify PD-14 both in Europe and in the USA

- said Kablov.

Recall that the PD-14 is a fifth-generation engine and is designed for the MS-21 medium-haul liner being created in Russia.

They did it, and after that it never happened, and now - again the PD-14 engine turned out to be unsuitable for operation in Europe and the USA. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation announced a tender for the revision of PD-14. The cost of work should not exceed 12 billion rubles - isn't it time to take for a "Faberge" and even ask "Why are you doing here, huh?" Have done expensively and angrily yet another "indifferentanploglvworld" something for something!

The story is quite and long predicted. Difficulties will be, and will bring the engine to European standards. This has been discussed before. The same to me, sensation ...

The Russians themselves create difficulties, and then they are heroically overcome

The Bolsheviks themselves create difficulties that they successfully overcome.

Domestic engine PD-14 passed the European audit

So is it possible to believe what is written on fences and on the Internet, and is it always necessary to give money if asked?

and that article (this one), on the contrary, is written in a positive way from Academician Kablov. there is a link to the video. so the author who posted the trimmed material should be warned for such cases. This article is called "The Russian PD-14 aircraft engine is being prepared for flights to Europe and overseas." Thus, the author who posted here deliberately whips up the negative against Russia.

What is distorted? Created PD-14, undergo flight tests. At the same time, another 12 billion rubles are needed for some kind of revision so that Europeans will certify. And immediately create an appropriate engine to create an option? And what does this revision mean? What will it be? It looks like a regular cut.

PS Of course, everything will be described in a positive way in the WG. This is the unspoken mouthpiece of the Kremlin. And you need to write not positively or negatively, but as it is. That is the truth, whatever it may be.

Additional funds are allocated for certification, which in itself is very complex and requires large funds. So, to prove the reliability of the engine, you need special stands and lengthy tests. It may be necessary to produce a batch of engines that will be disposed of after certification. At the same time, 12 billion is the maximum amount. How much money will be spent on certification, no one can say. Maybe 1 billion, and maybe 12.
Of course, during certification, European authorities may have special requirements that no one initially adjusted to, which may entail the need for improvements, which is a completely normal situation.

The form of information that you submitted completely distorts the essence of the situation. In fact, this is a pure lie.

further more, you cut out the positive and insert your negative, replacing the meaning. for example in bold in this article

has announced a tender to finalize PD-14 - with a view to its international certification at the European Safety Agency

    your phrase

PD-14 was unsuitable for use in Europe and the United States.

where do these conclusions come from? that’s why you didn’t give a link to the article and cross-checked everything. why didn’t you give a link to the original, but launch a lie in the media space?

Once again, for the especially gifted: the engine was created, it has been flying the IL-76LL for three or four years, and has received a type certificate in Russia. PD-14 is considered as the main one for the MS-21, which, in turn, is designed to replace Airbuses and Boeing in the fleets of Russian carriers.

Now it turns out that the engine cannot be certified in Europe, because it does not have the proper reliability. That is, the PD-14 can not be allowed to fly to Europe (the United States is not considered, the MS-21 will not physically reach there). Question - European designers were not aware of our designers? I doubt it.

you cut the positive and paste your negative

What is positive carved? I personally do not see anything good in a tender announcement. See above why. Although this point is indicated in the text.

where do these conclusions come from?

Can you prove the opposite? PD-14 is unsuitable for flights to the EU, it simply will not be allowed there according to the Russian certificate. We worked a dozen years on the engine so that it did not meet international requirements. And now submit another 12 billion. This, by the way, is quite a lot of money.

and run into the media space a lie?

What is the lie? In my opinion, you have problems with the perception of information. Or "brain patriotism." This is when people do not see problems, sacredly believing that everything is fine.

So it was created a dozen years specifically under the IL-76LL or all the same for the MS-21, taking into account the fact that the MS-21 is not able to fly outside of Russia? Nobody needs!

IL-76LL is a flying laboratory. A fourth piece of pipe can be attached to the three normal PS-90s and tested for a long and expensive time at the request of reindeer herders. But for Europe and the USA it turned out to be not enough all of a sudden for some reason, or rather, as always!

It's a lie. The engine will be certified. Certification requires a lot of time, resources and money. Product refinements during the certification process are quite normal, since everyone has different requirements and no one has specifically adapted to Europeans.
The engine has the required reliability, but this reliability must be proved in order to obtain a certificate. This is the problem.

The engine is ready. Certification is very expensive, and Europeans can present their requirements for revision.
You can’t just bring an engine and you will be given a piece of paper that you can fly. These are thousands of checks and tests. We need test batches of engines that will be killed in the process and disposed of.

Spit in the mirror you are looking at. More meaning will be. Perhaps you’ll think about your behavior. Engineering may not be fast, but it's not just some kind of refinement. This is specifically about European certification. It turns out that we have lower engine requirements than in neighboring Europe. How to explain this? And judging by the cost of the tender - significantly lower.

Some kind of liberal nonsense! Firstly, the engine has not passed the tests yet - it's too early to talk about certification by any standards! During development, all requirements for noise, emission, resource, reliability were laid with a very good margin for the most stringent standards, because the engine is primarily designed for a twin-engine aircraft! But for now, the engine is still in preparation for certification!
