Russia furnished the West in the game for Crimea
The head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, speaking on the work of the region’s government over the past 2017, noted that attempts to internationally isolate Crimea made by Ukraine, the United States and several Western countries have failed. And indeed it is. Crimea recently celebrated its four-year reunion with Russia.
Kiev and the United States and the European Union behind it, back in 2014, launched an unprecedented information campaign against this decision of the Crimeans, accusing Russia of annexing the peninsula. Crimea was threatened with international isolation and a complete blockade, but four years showed that the United States and Western Europe are far from the whole world, and in the Western countries themselves, by no means all people, including status politicians, agree with the anti-Russian line of the state leadership.
Almost immediately after the reunification with Russia, the first representatives of foreign states began to visit Crimea. Many Western politicians have visited the peninsula despite Kiev's violent backlash. For example, in the fall of 2016, 18 parliamentarians and businessmen from five regions of Italy (Veneto, Liguria, Lombardy, Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna) visited Crimea. At the beginning of 2018, a German delegation visited Crimea, whose representative, Deputy Helmut Seiffen, was very outraged by the threats to the delegates from the official Kiev, which had promised German politicians "disastrous consequences."
The world is interested in cooperating and trading with the Russian Crimea. Sergei Aksenov noted that now more than 52% of Crimea’s trade is accounted for by China, India, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Egypt, and among the former Soviet republics - Belarus (22%) and Ukraine (16%). Yes, the former "metropolis", whose authorities are raging about the return of Crimea to Russia, is actively trading with the peninsula. In the summer in the Crimea, you can’t get in the way of Ukrainian citizens hurrying here to rest. According to Aksenov, representatives of more than 30 countries of the world participate in the Forum of Friends of Crimea, observers from 20 states worked in the presidential elections in Crimea, and in April 2018, international economic Forum, which will bring about 500 guests from 50-60 countries of the world. Is it possible against the background of such events to speak of any kind of international isolation?
According to Sergey Aksenov, now in Crimea about 3 thousand legal entities are registered, the founders of which are foreign organizations and citizens from 33 countries of the world. In 2017 alone, 66 agreements worth more than 68 billion rubles were concluded. Foreign investors are investing in the Crimea, perfectly understanding all the opportunities that work on the peninsula offers them. If the world really didn’t recognize Crimea as Russian, then European and Asian businessmen would not invest in it, delegations of deputies and ministers would not come.
Even in Western Europe, voices are increasingly being heard in favor of recognizing Crimea as part of the Russian Federation. The Russian Crimea is an objective reality that cannot be avoided, according to the most appropriate European politicians. As for businessmen, they have long accepted the change in the political status of Crimea. The peninsula is of great interest to foreign entrepreneurs who expect to invest their funds in Crimea, despite the presence of problems with international recognition of its political affiliation.
