Deripaska no longer controls Rusal

En +, Rusal and Eurosibenergo are no longer controlled by well-known Russian entrepreneur Oleg Deripaska, as well as his family members and relatives. This statement was made by US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin during a hearing on the Financial Services Committee of the House of Representatives of the US Congress on Tuesday.

Reporting to congressmen, the head of the Ministry of Finance said that at the moment, Oleg Deripaska and related organizations, enterprises and individuals controlled 45 percent of En + and 35 percent of the vote. The Russian businessman had to transfer part of the shares to his children, but this was a prerequisite for his divorce. Even so, all members of the Deripaska family do not collectively own a controlling interest.

In April 2018, Rusal, En +, Eurosibenergo, GAZ controlled by the Russian oligarch fell under the sanctions of the US Treasury. Subsequently, in order to remove restrictions from enterprises and give them the opportunity to work normally, the businessman went to meet the requirements of the Americans and reduced his stake in the management company En +. After that, the sanctions were lifted from the companies, leaving them only against Oleg Deripaska himself.
