Airbus aircraft will have berths in the luggage compartment

What air carriers will not do to expand the list of available services and make the flight more comfortable for passengers. So, the European Airbus concern decided to "convert" the cargo compartments of wide-body airliners, equipping them with passenger modules. According to functionaries, this idea will be implemented as early as 2021.

Together with Airbus, the French company Safran has been working on the project since 2018. The new rooms are based on airborne recreational modules for crew members. It is assumed that thanks to the innovation, the list of airline services can be replenished: sleeping areas, children's rooms, as well as meeting rooms.

The dimensions of one such module are: 2,4x4x1,55 meters. The design of additional recreation areas allows you to install them both on new aircraft during the assembly process, and during the modernization of existing devices. The first to receive the innovation is the A330. In the future, it is planned to understaff the A350. In the luggage compartments of the above models can accommodate up to 4 modules.

It is worth noting that this is not the first idea of such a "conversion" of aircraft proposed by the European concern. Earlier, Airbus has already presented to the public a concept called Transpose, which would make it possible to make a cargo plane “residential”. So, for example, up to 330 passenger modules could be installed in the A200-12F, including: a bar, a gym, a children's room and a sleeping compartment.
