The new robot loader from the United States resembles an ostrich

The company Boston Dynamics, introduced a robot loader, which will become an indispensable assistant for people in warehouses. A new example of design thought, called Handle, is outwardly different from its “four-legged counterparts” and more closely resembles a large ostrich.

It is worth noting that an unusual humanoid was created not from scratch. The company showed the first version of the robot back in 2017, but since then the latter has undergone significant changes. If the predecessor of the “iron bird” was limited to performing several simple tricks, then the modern Handle will become a full-fledged human assistant.

The video from Boston Dynamics demonstrates two robots, one of which transfers small boxes and puts them in neat stacks, while the other sends goods to the conveyor belt. Humanoids move on large wheels, balancing by means of a counterweight at the rear of the structure. The beak of the “mechanical bird” is equipped with suction cups, thanks to which it picks up various objects without problems.

In the video presented by the developers, robots carry boxes with an approximate weight of 5 kg. However, Boston Dynamics declares that their brainchild is able to effectively handle loads of up to 14 kg. At the same time, Handle can stack objects in stacks up to a meter high, and a video surveillance system is used to recognize the boxes and correctly place them.
