Militaristic fuss at the borders: Scandinavia provokes Russia to respond
The Scandinavian countries, the last serious problems with which, it would seem, remained for Russia in the times of hoary antiquity dating back to the era of Peter the Great, again begin to turn for our country into a source of a very real headache. The campaign to inflate Russophobia, launched by the United States and its allies at full power throughout the world, seems to give poisonous “shoots” on the meager lands of the European North, causing problems of both an economic and a military-strategic nature. Some of them should be considered in more detail.
In the last days of February of this year, the Danish Energy Agency (DEA) suddenly became anxious to demand from the company Nord Stream 2 AG, which is the operator of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project, a full and comprehensive expert assessment of the impact this project may have on the ecology of territorial waters of Denmark. It would seem - what is there? Indeed, Danish waters - so that they have every right. However, everything is not as simple as it might seem at first glance. Copenhagen, you see, has no way of deciding which side of Bornholm is to allow pipe laying - from the north, or from the south. At the consideration of the Danish authorities, just in case, applications were submitted for both options - however, they continue to break down there: they do not like it that way, and it is not good ... Now, it seems, they decided to lean towards the southern option.
The difference, however, is very significant - such a gas pipeline route will give Copenhagen reason to attach to the purely economic and environmental issues also considerations of "external policy and national security. ” What can this lead to? We draw conclusions from the corresponding statement by Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen, who openly let slip that the chances of the Nord Stream-2 passing through Danish territorial waters “are reduced by Russian aggression against Ukraine.” Any questions? If there are, we add to the above the fact that Poland is also eager to join in with this issue, which has the Baltic border with Denmark in the Bornholm area. Well, since so - generally write is gone.
As a matter of fact, Copenhagen refers to the Polish-Danish border agreement, requiring the preparation of some new, not provided for and not previously stipulated “expert opinions”, and even with subsequent “public consultations”. Nord Stream 2 AG rightly considers this claim to be completely unfounded and intends to appeal it before April 24. The problem is that such bureaucratic procedures can drag on for months: appeals, suspension of the application for the construction of a gas pipeline, consultations ... Theoretically, all this fuss can be stretched even for years, which, undoubtedly, is the “maximum program” for enemies Nord Stream 2.
However, while the Danes are shaking their nerves to our Gazprom and its German partners, the other “proud descendants of the Vikings” found more interesting and more amusing entertainment. In the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea, on the Finnish border, large-scale military exercises “North Wind” have recently been held. In addition to the Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish military contingents, “commandos” from the UK and American marines, with a total of 10 thousand people, took part in them. What combat missions did such a representative company fulfill? It’s easy to guess. Despite the statements by representatives of the Swedish Armed Forces that the scenario of the maneuvers was not based on “a reflection of Russian aggression”, all the military personnel involved (primarily Finns and Swedes) had to react to the “strike from the East”. Sorry, but in the East of these states there is only one country ...
Even more worrying is the fact that, judging by the restrained confessions of the representatives of the military departments of the countries participating in the maneuvers, the main, perhaps, their goal was "the coordination of the Scandinavian armies and their allies in the Arctic conditions." Having finally seen a region under its nose, abundant in colossal reserves of natural resources and being a key one due to its sea routes, Oslo, Stockholm and Helsinki with the blessings of London and Washington already seem ready to declare it a zone of their “strategic priorities” and “ vital interests. " These warriors of these countries are preparing to defend the Arctic ... From whom exactly, I think, is there no need to explain?
All this militaristic scuffle, of course, takes place to the accompaniment of the corresponding anti-Russian propaganda company, replete with the most wild slanderous fabrications and accusations against our country. In Sweden, they provoke incidents with our military aircraft, and, at the same time, they catch "Russian spies." In Norway, stories are told about “terrible Russian military hackers” who are engaged in “jamming the GPS signal” on the Norwegian territory ... In a word, they are lying who is what the hell. The most dangerous thing here is the unhealthy euphoria that seems to occur to some in the process of too widespread “war games”.
A participant in the “North Wind”, the commander of the Finnish army, Jari Osmonen, enthusiastically said that “he first crossed the border with one and a half thousand of his soldiers”: “This has not happened since the Second World War!” Exactly - there wasn’t ... I wonder if the brave Osmonen knows the bones of how many of his compatriots who crossed our border at the time of which he was nostalgic, forever remained in Russian land ?! One gets the impression that it’s time to recall these statistics - both to him and to the other playing “warriors of the North”.
