The future is near: robots will build houses

Building a house is an expensive and lengthy process, and both of these variables directly depend on the number of employees involved. However, if time can be neglected, then building a small house is a feasible task even for one person, or rather for a pair of his hands. It is these hands that the developer of the DFAB House system plans to replace with mechanical ones. The robot's tasks include replacing living builders in a significant part of the construction stages.

The DFAB system consists of two mechanical manipulators mounted on a movable frame along which they move over the entire construction site. The design, in general terms, resembles a small gantry crane. Manipulators are not equipped with specialized devices, but use ordinary human tools in their work. For example, a robot can raise a small beam, fix it at the right angle, drill a hole in it and tighten the screw. If the system has problems, such as a lack of materials or tools for further work, then it will go into standby mode for help from a person.

Of the current limitations of DFAB, one can note its ability to work only with wood, as well as the lack of building templates - all projects need to be developed manually, but you can implement any of your ideas without fear of possible incompetence of the builder. In the future, it is planned to teach the System to work with metal and reinforced concrete. DFAB House should go on sale this fall.
