From TV to helicopter: TOP-7 of world famous Russian inventions

2
We often hear about the technological achievements of the West, but forget that Russia has given the world a huge amount of inventions. Without many domestic discoveries and innovations today it is difficult to imagine the life of mankind. And it's not just about the first flight into space, about powerful weapons and the best spaceships in the world.

periodic table

One of the most significant Russian discoveries is the periodic system of chemical elements. Its author is a Russian chemist Dmitry Mendeleev. This year the famous table marks 150 years. We can no longer imagine, without Mendeleev’s contribution, not only industry, agriculture, but also a simple school chemistry lesson.

By the way, Dmitry Mendeleev was not only a world-famous chemical scientist. He was an ardent patriot of Russia and regarded his scientific activities as a service to his homeland. He sincerely loved his country and believed that the main task of his scientific research should be to promote the development of Russian industry and production.

TV

It is difficult to imagine the life of a modern person without a TV. But this is also a Russian invention. Engineer Vladimir Zvorykin filed a patent in 1923, developed a kinescope in 1929, and an iconoscope in 1931.

Although the patent was filed in the United States, we must not forget that Zvorykin was a Russian man by origin, and in the United States fled from the horrors of the Civil War. By the way, during the First World War, Zvorykin served as an officer in the communications forces of the Russian Empire, taught at an officer radio school.

Helicopter

Helicopters today are actively used by the air forces of almost all countries of the world, civilian airlines, and various organizations operating in various fields, from oil and gas production to agriculture. The Russian engineer Igor Sikorsky invented the helicopter. And a helicopter is not the only Sikorsky project. The aircraft “Russian Knight” and “Ilya Muromets”, developed in 1912-1914. - also a fruit of Sikorsky’s creativity, like a snowmobile.

The first helicopter Sikorsky designed back in 1910, but due to lack of funds, he could not establish its production and bring the invention to mind. Only decades later, already living in the United States, Sikorsky managed to find the means to materialize his projects. The first experimental Vought-Sikorsky 300 helicopter took off 80 years ago - September 14, 1939.

Aircraft

By the way, the first plane is also the work of Russians. Sources argue that Alexander Mozhaisky developed his aircraft almost twenty years earlier than the Americans Wright brothers. And although Mozhaisky did not receive any help from the authorities in the implementation of his project, he, a naval officer by profession, ultimately managed to realize his dream - a man flew with the help of a special device.

On July 20, 1882, on a military field in Krasnoye Selo, Mozhaysky's plane first took off. The Wright brothers recall, flew only in 1903. Thus, the Russian inventor also stood at the origins of world aviation, both civil and military.

Treatment of glaucoma

Svyatoslav Fedorov in his youth almost became a military pilot. But while studying at the Rostov special school, the Air Force unsuccessfully jumped off the tram and lost its foot. Since then, thoughts of a military career had to be abandoned. And Svyatoslav Nikolaevich became an ophthalmologist.

It was Fedorov who developed and carried out the world's first operation to treat glaucoma, an eye disease from which hundreds of thousands of people suffered and suffer. Fedorov learned to treat glaucoma in the early stages, and his method received international recognition.

Synthetic rubber

The name of Sergey Lebedev is less known than the names of Dmitry Mendeleev and Igor Sikorsky. But synthetic rubber invented by Lebedev willingly or not is used in everyday life by almost every person, even one who has never flown an airplane in his life and is very far from chemistry.

The world's first polybutadiene was obtained by Lebedev as a result of his chemical experiments in 1910. But large-scale production of synthetic rubber in our country began in 1931, when the world's first synthetic rubber plant was built in Leningrad. Automotive, aircraft, defense, medical Technology - where only the invention of Sergey Lebedev is not used today.

Video recorder

Russian emigrant, engineer by profession Alexander Matveyevich Ponyatov gained worldwide fame in 1956. It was he who invented the world's first video recorder.

Ponyatov was at the forefront of Ampex, which for fifty years has been a leader in the production of magnetic recording equipment for sound, images and special signals. The Russian engineer owned patents for inventions, and even such giants of the global electronic industry as Toshiba or Sony could not work in the field of video equipment without Ponyatov’s patents.

By the way, Ponyatov, like many Russian inventors, was also a great patriot of Russia, although he lived abroad. He helped thousands of Russian emigrants with work, financed Orthodox churches and a shelter for the elderly.

And what they didn’t tell about the cell phone, it was also invented by the Soviet engineer Kupriyanovich, and not pen-d-sy, how they gulp.

    Regarding the TV:
The beginning of the history of the first television receivers was laid by the German technician Paul Nipkov, who in 1884 invented a special device - the Nipkov disk, capable of scanning images line by line. In 1895, the German physicist Karl Brown created the first picture tube, better known as the “Brown Tube”. The scientist considered his creation unsuccessful and set aside for a long 11 years, but in 1906, his student Max Dickmann received a patent for the pipe and used the teacher’s find to transfer the picture. A year later, he showed the world a television receiver with a small screen of 3 by 3 centimeters and a scan frequency of 10 frames per second. In the mid-1920s, British engineer John Logie Brad made an invaluable contribution to the development of modern television. Using the Nipkov disk, he invented a mechanical television receiver that worked without sound, but gave a fairly clear picture obtained by decomposing it into elements.

    Helicopter:
Born May 25, 1889 in Kiev, 17-year-old Igor leaves for Paris and enters a technical school, and a year later he returns to Kiev and continues his studies at the local Polytechnic Institute, 23-year-old Sikorsky comes to St. Petersburg by invitation "Russian-Baltic Wagon Plant" (RBVZ) where he works from 12 to 17 years (5 years) after integrating into America. YES and by name he is far from Russian
